Starting Pokemon:
Izzy the Charmander
Week one:
Izzy the Charmander
Week one:
Prof Oak gave me an incredibly rare Pokemon… Kind of overwhelming. Told me to take really good care of it. Gary (his grandson) pushed me aside and chose a water type, but I still managed to beat him in my first ever Pokemon battle.
Battled a few Rattatas and Pidgeys along Route 1. Got to Viridian and was promptly sent back to Oak with a parcel.
Sigh.
Encountered a strangely shiny Mankey along Route 22 and thought I had a chance at catching him, but Izzy got to excited and Crit Hit on his second move. Can't really be mad at Iz, but I gave him a pretty frustrated stare before laughing as he proudly blew on his tail like a smoking gun barrel. This little Charmander is a character.
Week two:
Decided to head up Route 2 to check for new friends. Found a wild Pidgey, or rather, a wild Pidgey found us after flying out of a tree and straight for Iz and me. Instinctively threw a Pokeball at the bird but it bounced right off. Told Iz to scratch it up and he responded marvelously. Threw a second Pokeball and caught the Pidgey. Pokedex tells me she's pretty common, but I'm not so sure. I've never seen a Pidgey OHKO three Rattatas like she just did. Claire's gonna be a good addition to this team. :-)
Week three:
I think today's gonna be my last in Viridian before I make the trek to Pewter City. Gonna go take a look at the Victory Road gates before leaving. It'll be nice to have a goal in my sights.
…
Fucking Gary. Drops out of nowhere to try and scare me off of my Pokemon League dreams. Haha, joke is on him. Claire managed to take out his Pidgey and Squirtle all by herself. What a beast.
Week four:
Viridian Forest is a nightmare. It's almost as dark as a cave in here. Saw an old Pokeball lying on the ground and tripped over a Metapod trying to reach for it. Figured I'd catch him, even though all he seemed to be able to do is Harden his shell up. He'll evolve into a Butterfree soon enough, I'll bet. Named him Kingsley since Butterfrees look a little like monarch butterflies.
Week five:
This Brock guy must be hard up for challengers. I tried to set out toward Mt. Moon to get some training in and one of Brock's lackeys dragged me by the arm over to the gym and "strongly suggested" I challenge. I better train my bros up and teach this guy a lesson.
Week six:
Brock's junior trainer wasn't much of a challenge. His Geodude and Sandshrew were no match for Izzy's Metal Claw. However, after doing some research on the Pokedex Prof. Oak gave me, I realize that Rock-type is super effective against Bug, Flying, and Fire. … I glance down at my bros. A Butterfree, a Pidgey, and a Charmander. Sigh. Back to the grind.
Week seven:
Turns out Iz has a lot more heart than I could have ever hoped for. While battling a tough Rattata in the Viridian Forest, Kingsly was taking too much damage so I switched to Iz. He delivers an awesome KO using his Ember attack and levels up. I watched in amazement as he grew from a Charmander to a Charmeleon right before my eyes . Time to take care of Brock.
