Brock and the Boulder Badge
In two moves, Brock's Geodude lay at his feet, vanquished by the Metal Claws and a critical hit Ember from Iz. With a steely look of determination, Brock sends out his Onix, launching a Rock Tomb and taking a big chunk of health out of my snarling Charmeleon. I start thinking about switching to Kingsly for a turn, maybe to get in a Sleep Powder or Stun Spore.
Brock must have anticipated my strategy because he commanded his Onix to Bind Iz. Shit. Now I've got Iz wrapped up by the attack, unable to switch out even if I wanted to. I throw Iz a potion and take his health back up to about 95%. Onix uses another Rock Tomb. I'm sweating. Iz is staring at me, begging for me to help him. It's Metal Claw or bust. Iz is up for the challenge. His attack seems to be rising. He claws the giant Onix again. Onix continues to Bind him up. METAL CLAW. It's the fatal blow. The Onix collapses to the floor, freeing Iz from its clutches.
Brock is clearly unsettled. It won't look good in the papers for a single Fire Pokemon to have taken down a Rock Gym. He begrudgingly tosses me a Boulder Badge. I wish him luck with his gym and he tells me to wait before giving me a TM for Rock Tomb. He says he has a friend who runs a Water Gym in Cerulean and suggests I challenge her. Our Fire was too hot for Rock. Here's hoping we can boil Water.

| Looks like Brock should have spent a little less time chasing girls. |
Week nine:
I'm heading out for Mt. Moon, so I'm not sure if there will be enough light to write journal entires. There seem to be a slew of trainers milling about the path so I'll see if I can't take them down. The training and experience is gonna be good for my team.
